As 2013 is getting close to wrapping up, there is no question what’s been filling pages in interior design and decorating magazines in the way of home trends. From an allure of antique furnishings and wallpaper, to organic kitchens and metallic trimmings; let’s take a sneak peek into home decorating must haves for this fall and forward.
Home owners are becoming more familiar with artwork, and the undeniable presence it brings to a room. No more small, itsy-bitsy frames that hold no presence on a wall. Go bigger and bolder! Abstract or Art Deco; either way, you’ll have a conversation piece.
Thankfully we are becoming more environmentally conscious in the way we decorate and build our homes. You’ll see a bigger trend towards a more natural “lived in” look in the kitchen. The use of natural wood, metals and other organic materials is really fresh and provides a homey feel but with oodles of sophistication.
Wall Back Drops
Who said wall paper would never come back in style? Not me. It really adds a great detail that is so chic and fanciful that you may want to wall paper every room in your home. However, let’s not get too carried away. These wall drops help create perfect accents that draw the eye to a magnificent spot in a room. Wall candy anyone?
Retro Made Modern
Mixing modern and retro styling is a hot trend right now. The mineral blue seat cushions mixed with these refreshed vintage outdoor glider and chairs, creates an updated look that is unique and what I like to call “fresh vintage.”
If you can change the mood of a room with a touch of paint, then you can certainly change the mood of furnishings. This Swedish chest of drawers was in dire need of a facelift. A hint of high gloss paint and new hardware did the trick. Not sure what to paint? Go for a bold high gloss color on side tables, coffee tables or frames; a sure way to add shine to a room!
